SUBJECT
Central Instrumentation Facility Laboratory :Polymer research lab was started in 2000, with the aim to provide research guidance to students of M.Sc.passouts in Chemistry who are interested to pursue their carrier in Research. The major topics on which research is carried out are polymers and their synthesis, drug delivery systems, nanoparticles and their polymer composites, biomedical applications of polymers and finally polymers for electrical energy storage devices. The Central Instrumentation Facility Laboratory (CIFL) of the College is also being run by this department. High precision electronic balance, HPLC system,FTIR UV-Visible and Atomic Absorption spectrophotometers,X-Ray Diffractometer are available in this laboratory.Natural Product Research Lab was started in 1998, with the objective to develop methods and protocols to extract valuable natural products. Various analytical techniques has been developed in the lab. The prime focus was given on extraction and instrumental techniques (GC-MS, LC-MS, MPLC, IR, PMR, 13C-NNR, MS and FIA) and segregation of the valuable Natural Products. Some of the laboratory students were also working on derivatization of the Phytochemical components, Micro-wave Synthetic Chemistry.Bose Memorial Research Lab (BMRL) Bose memorial research lab is one of the reputed ,prestigious research labs of the College. The lab owes an exceptional track record of almost more than 30 years. It received a funding of about 80 lacs in last several years from different funding agencies like DRDO, DST, CSIR, BRNS etc. More than 65 Ph.D. s, 400 research papers, women scientist, several Young Scientist Awards by various agencies have been produced from BMR lab. The prime focus of research areas include polymer based materials, nanoparticls for numerous biomedical applications viz.cancer nanotechnology, health care, wound dressings, water purification, reduction of antibiotic side effects by adsorption, controlled drug delivery systems, treatment of textile colour by photocatalytic activity, conducting polymers etc.Coordination Chemistry Research lab (CCRL) has started in 2004, with aim to synthesize and characterize metal compounds. The laboratory members are currently being involved to investigate catalytic and biological potency of main group and d-block metal based-compounds. Molecules designed have advancement in field of Biomimetic Chemistry, Metal Nanoparticle preparation, Metallo-pharmaceuticals, Green catalysis and Computational Chemistry.
